Hyperventillating again...

What a great way to start this blog. It's my first post and I can't help but write about that ill fated plane crash that happened 13 years ago. I've been watching the news and one news channel had this inauguration of a memorial in remembrance of that plane crash. I admit I have this strong indifference about riding a plane. I am one chicken- shit very reluctant passenger. If I would have it my way I'd rather board a passenger's ship or a bus. Anything that has nothing to do with flying. I think I have this aerophobia or I have fear of heights and no matter how I convince myself that I'll be getting over it, it's not happening in a hundred years. I know I'm paranoid and a pessimist at that. I actually expect that something bad will happen. Maybe being a mom and a wife gives you an excuse to be afraid of every single thing that could happen to you unexpectedly. In short as much as I hate to admit it, I'm afraid to die now. Compare to my old self, before I was not afraid to die. To me dying is a very normal thing and that I can welcome it with open arms if that would happen. But once you had children of your own, you become afraid to die, lest you leave them motherless at a very young age. And everytime I board a plane I can't help but feel that it was going to be the last ride of my life. So I result to self medication. Comes with self medicating the fear that you won't be able to wake up after that. Or finding myself landing elsewhere....

Enough of that. I'll be boarding a plane again with the coming months and I'm not very enthusiastic about it. With fingers crossed I hope I'll make it to the runway... Not like this one.

A Philippines airliner packed with holidaymakers has crashed and burst into flames on a southern resort island, killing all 131 passengers and crew on board.

It is the country's worst air disaster.
The Air Philippines Boeing 737-200 was preparing to land at Davao airport when it came down in a coconut plantation in the hills of nearby Samal island.
"The wreckage has been located. There were no survivors," Air Transportation Office chief Jacinto Ortega said.
The plane was unable to land on its first approach to the airport at Davao because another plane was on the runway, air traffic controllers said. The plane crashed as it prepared to make another approach from the opposite direction, they said.
The cause of the crash was not known but one village official said he saw smoke pluming out of the plane while it was still in the air and then he heard a blast before it smashed into a hill."
